Nightlife

Whether you are in a holiday, or on a business trip, you must make some time to experience the Romanian nightlife. Of course, it is essential to be in the right place, at the right time, but being a foreigner and not knowing the right people, you must make sure that you've at least asked the right questions. It's best if you avoid questions like "Where can I find a good night club?"  The variety of people that live there could lead you to God knows what type of clubs. As for the question "Is the music good?"... the most likely answer ("yes") is hardly reliable when talking to somebody you probably have nothing in common with. So make sure you make very clear what you are interested in and get as much information as you can about the place you were recommended before you make a decision. When trying to describe the music gender you're interested in, feel free to use English words (Techno, DubStep, Drum&Bass, BreakBeat, Rock, Punk, etc.). It's the same in Romanian. If they don't understand you, you haven't asked the right people.

Tip: When choosing the place to go out to, never relay on the advice of one who uses the term "discotheque" instead of "club"!

I'm looking for a good club, not a "discotheque" caut un club bun, nu o discotecă kah-oot oon cloob boon, noo oh dis-co-teh-kah

Don't try to hard to say it in Romanian though. Most people will understand English.

Now, here are useful words and phrases to use while in the club:
